XI'AN, March 18 (Xinhua) -- China has published, for the first time, a book which names all the butterfly species in the world.
The book is published by the Shaanxi science and technology publishing house and insiders say it shows that China's butterfly research has made great progress after two decades of hard work.
The World Butterfly Catalogue was compiled on similar lines to the Chinese Butterfly Catalogue, whose chief compiler is China's famous butterfly expert Zhou Yao, a professor from the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry Science University of China.
The World Butterfly Catalogue covers the introduction and methodology of the classification of butterfly species and focuses on the distribution of the different species.
All the Latin names of the butterflies are also available in the book.
